Background on Our Daughter
-Our daughter has autism and is high functioning
-She was adopted from Guatemala in 1996 when she was 7 months old
-Healthcare in Guatamala was poor
-As a toddler she was normal and active in many ways and in other ways she was not
-When young, we noticed speech delays and some behavioral issues
-This lead us on an eye opening journey of visiting hundreds of pedicatrians, psychologists, education and health practicioners
-Looking back - we didn’t realize how ”new” autism was and how little training professionals have had available to them
-We received many wrong diagnosis and wrong advise from many professionals
-The internet and national traning courses have provided significant resources
